Criteria for Acceptance
To be accepted for a student elective, you must meet the following criteria:
1. Have a USMLE or COMLEX Step 1 score of ≥ 80
2. Be a student enrolled in a U.S. Medical School or an affiliated International Medical School (Saba, AUC, or Ross)
3. Be in good standing
The following items are required:
1. The completed application form
2. A copy of your medical school transcript
3. A personal statement
All elective rotations require satisfactory completion of Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Family Medicine, and OB/Gyn core clerkships. There will be no exceptions. Core clinical rotations are not available to visiting students.
PLEASE NOTE that there is a restriction on the number of electives available during the summer months, and at peak periods. We recommend you do not apply for an elective during July or August, and during the Christmas vacation, since we may not be able to provide you with an elective experience. The maximum duration for a single elective at Aultman Hospital is 4 weeks.
